Handmade With Love: Quick and Easy Gift Idea

I love giving gifts and one of my most favorite gifts to give is a care package gift.

So what do I mean by a care package gift?

Well, it’s a package, filled with smaller personalized, fun and useful gifts. All the items are specifically catered to my recipient, it is handmade and works for every type of occasion or celebration. It’s basically the best gift ever!!

So how do I make care package gifts?

It is an easy process actually. Basically, I decide on the delivery method and package type, buy items, toss items into the package and that’s it - care package gift done.

When it comes to the delivery method, hand delivery allows me more freedom in what I can put into the package. Mailing requires postal guidelines and postage which I have to remember, but it’s not a big deal. I prefer to hand deliver my packages whenever possible.

To determine the size of my package, I start thinking about the approximate number and size of the items I plan on giving. I usually go with a medium sized box. I have found that it’s a lot more fun to squeeze hidden treasure in a smaller/medium size box, verses trying to fill up a larger box. Also, small to medium boxes work great for both mailing and hand delivering. There have been times when I already have the items in hand and in those cases the package size is already determined for me.

I like to choose plain and sturdy boxes that can be reused by the recipient. Sometimes, I will decorate the plain box with stickers and washi tapes. I also like to add tissue paper or paper fluff to my gift. This is just a little extra layer of protection and cuteness for my care package gift.

Okay, the real fun is deciding on what items go into the package. Usually the plan is to carefully snug the items into where they fit. I like hiding smaller trinkets here and there to add a level of fun for the recipient. Adding this extra thought into building my package makes it special and one-of-a-kind.

Here are a few items I often add in my care packages:

  • Greeting Card or Handwritten Note

  • Framed Inspirational Art

  • Scented Candles and Oils (well sealed)

  • Keychains

  • Small Journal or Books

  • A Nice Stationery Set with Pens

  • Non-perishable Snacks (candy, health bars or nuts work well)

  • Gift Cards

Once I have added everything into the gift box, I close the lid, add some tape to secure it, and add a tag to the outside. If there is no lid, I will use a plastic see through bag and a bow to seal it up. If I am mailing the package, I will get it boxed properly before sending.

In closing, if you are in the market for a gift that’s simple to make and thoughtful, I hope you will consider making a care package gift. This is my go-to gift for whomever and whenever.
