Houses - To Buy or Not To Buy…

That is the question when deciding on the type of art for bare and boring walls. You see what I did there…you thought this was about houses but no, it's about the boring and lifeless walls inside that house.

We all have that one room, with that one wall, that just needs help. I have lived in my home for almost 5 years and I still have a few blank and lifeless walls. It's not all that bad. The walls are at least painted a step up from plain white. By that I mean plain beige, but that is not the problem, I happen to like beige and I stand by my choices.

The other day, while pointing to a very large and sad dining room wall, I finally announced to my husband, “Guess what! I have finally decided on what I am going to do with this.” Then I proceeded to tell him that it will be a “collage hodgepodge of photos and art of all types”. I have no idea what this even means and where to start but hey, a loose plan is better than nothing.

A loose plan is better than nothing.

A collage hodgepodge of photos and art of all types. In my mind this includes family photos, printed art, assemblage art, any wall decor type item that suits my fancy and ties itself in, somehow. I also think I am going to add an extra challenge to this already daunting task. Yes, a challenge of no NEW products will be purchased.

So, thrift store, handmade, repurposed is the key.

Here is the thing, I don’t want or need anything NEW in my house. I am trying to use the stuff I already have. Especially if means I have to get creative to update a piece with upcycling and repurposing techniques. It is basically another creative outlet for me - YAY!!!

If I can repurpose what I already have or make something using what I have, I will, before I head over to the thrift store.

Challenge Accepted.

I believe I can make it work with what I have around me. I am so excited, but I am not sure my hubby is as excited as I am. After all, he does have to help me hang everything up. Oh, what fun that will be for all parties involved. We will be fine!

Okay, so, I am considering this my lifetime project. It will take the rest of my life, before I will ever call the wall complete. I know me. I will share pictures or any DIY projects related to this wall in these blog posts.

Who knows, maybe it will inspire one of you to consider creating your very own “collage hodgepodge of photos and art of all types” in your home. Maybe you already have this in your home and you are wondering what took me so long to get here, and to you I say, I didn’t know I could. But that is another blog, for another time, and another blogger.

If you want to follow my wall project, please consider subscribing to our monthly newsletter so you will know when I post pictures of my progress.

Thank You God!
