My Summer Slow Down

Summertime is officially here!

Thanks to my hubby’s adventurous spirit and the ability to work remotely, we get to travel during the summer months.

We step away from our regular chores, tasks, and appointments at home and step into creativity, fun and relaxing in our RV.

A lot of pre-planning goes into our summer long travel.

Proper internet connection at all stops, logical travel days and allotted time to enjoy the great outdoors are all considerable factors in the pre-planning phase. Once we are on the road all I want to do is relax and have fun but there is still work that I have to do.

In order to make the most out of each stop, there are a few things I do to balance my work with fun and relaxation.

I block time in my calendar to focus on essential back-end business tasks.

This is when unimportant tasks are made obvious to me and are quickly eliminated. For some reason, throughout the rest of the year, these useless tasks seem to hide in plain sight. I appreciate this mid-year task and process clean up because it realigns me to my purpose and goals.

I spend more time in the creative zone, crafting and designing new art.

It is all about slowing down and getting the creative juices flowing. I pack a small craft kit to eliminate overworking, overthinking and overdoing. I do a lot of designing on my laptop and iPad for later printing and finalization in the fall. Whether with my craft kit or laptop, the goal is to create art, as much as I can during the summer.

Making time to relax is a must during summer.

Designing and creating is my way to relax and just be at peace. However, there is something to be said about the art of doing NOTHING. Sitting in nature, taking long walks and napping are all part of the summer experience.

Thank you God for all of my blessings.

I am so grateful for our summer travel. I am going to squeeze every minute of creativity, fun and relaxation out of this summer and I hope you will do the same.
