A junk journal is similar to a scrapbook in that you decorate pages and journal about your life, experiences, and memorable moments. The difference is that you get to create the journal using whatever materials you want in whatever way you choose. No matter what you hear otherwise, there is no wrong way to make a junk journal. I watched some YouTube videos and browsed Pinterest, and then I just started making journals using supplies I already had on hand. 

It’s more than a journal; It’s art.

But making a junk journal is so much more than a way for me to use craft supplies and “junk.” Each journal is a piece of art made to my liking and style. The creativity I pour into making the journal and decorating it makes me appreciate it even more when I journal in it. My innermost thoughts and memories get to live in this art. That is important because sometimes I am better at expressing myself with images rather than words. Journaling is already an essential part of my life. Adding this level of creativity by making my junk journals makes the practice much more meaningful.
