Pink Foil Cardstock FTW

The other day, as I was walking through my neighborhood craft store, headed toward the adhesive section, I couldnโ€™t help but notice all the sparkly new tools and materials for the season. On this day, I only intended to buy adhesive, which is one of those essentials that frequently needs replacing. What was not planned, however, were the additional paper pads.

My rule number one is, work with what I have on hand, and you can bet your bottom dollar, I have plenty of paper pads at home. So why did I buy these three, count them, one, two, three, paper pads?

Let me tell you my friend, for a split second after getting into my car, I considered that maybe I had made a mistake. I thought, โ€œWhat have I done!? I am supposed to be saving money on craft supplies, not buying stuff I already have! Calm down Yvonne, itโ€™s fine.โ€

As you can see, I knew I didnโ€™t mess up. Do you know how I knew? Because I slowed down to think it through before I bought them.

I could sit here and describe all the details, thoughts, questions, pros and cons that crossed my mind before these paper pads came into my craft studio but that is not who I am. Instead I will cut right down to it with the nuts and bolts. Because when you know better, you do better.

I have been on a financial fast journey and I have learned that its always a good idea to slow down and take a deep breath before making purchases or decisions. All you need is five minutes. Its a, slow-down-hit-the-pause-button-on-the-hustle-and-bustle-say-a-little-prayer-because-your-spirit-needs-to-weigh-in-and-think-it-through, kind of five minutes, but really that is all it takes.

I determined, in five minutes, that these pads deserved a place in my life. It was a calculated and well-thought-out purchase. As mentioned, I have plenty of paper pads in my supply cabinet. I always know what colors and styles I have in stock. So when I happened upon these beauties, I knew within five minutes that they were a unique style and type, not already part of my stock. When I got home, and as I settled on projects and plans for these unicorns, I realized that I really have come along way. Because now that I know better, I am doing better. I am taking my five minutes with every decision I need to make, even when buying new craft supplies. A good habit that is really sticking is something to be grateful for, and I am so very grateful.

Thank you, God!

So why did I buy these THREE paper pads?

After five seconds I knew, but after five minutes of thinking it through, I determined they were worthy.

Papercraft Nerd Alert!! These paper pads are a beautiful pink foil cardstock. A very Jellybean Jumble, muted, but shiny, hot pink color. If I were paper, this is the exact color and finish I would be, haha, a very much me color. A color that aligns with my purpose to create and share positive art. It is a color and style I plan to use in lots of projects and creations. Did I need three paper pads of this same style and color? Definitely not, but we are changing one habit at a time, people. Also, they were discounted! YAY!
