The Art of Waiting

The other day, I was talking with my nephew about how much hard work goes into building a handmade arts and crafts business. It's not only about the physical work, it also involves serious mental and spiritual effort. I never really think of what I do as work, itโ€™s more like the fun I get to have while building my dream. There are times, however, only sometimes, when it can feel like I am rowing a boat in a circle.

So, during my waiting season, when I get these off-feelings, my number one goal is to make more time for activities that bring me joy, quiet my mind, and allow me to sit with my thoughts and limit my โ€œworkโ€ hours.

Limiting my Work Hours.

I am so grateful that I have the freedom to adjust my work schedule as needed, and no longer have to adhere to a traditional 9-5 work schedule. By adjusting my work hours, I find that I'm able to complete my work tasks more efficiently. It's like I set myself a deadline that doesn't really exist because Iโ€™m just determined to get it done in the hours allotted no matter what. This approach helps me manage my time better, and I get more done in less time.

Increasing Crafting and Prayer Hours.

When I have more free time to craft and create, it feels amazing to see my projects through to completion. I find it productive and satisfying, which lifts my mood. It also fills me with enthusiasm and inspiration to try out new things. The process of transforming raw materials into something creative is like climbing a huge mountain and reaching the top of it. With all the creation going on, I am adding new pieces to my art collection and getting through tons of good scrap.

Spending more time in prayer helps me keep going, especially at times when I am feeling discouraged. Itโ€™s amazing how God always gives me just enough strength and inspiration when I need it most. I am truly grateful for the peace and clarity I receive from sitting quietly with Him. Without this daily practice, I donโ€™t think I could manage the challenges that come my way. These activities help me stay focused and motivated, and time really flies when I'm immersed in them.

Lord, you are amazing!

For the most part, I am out here having fun and working on my assignment, but on those days when I catch myself rowing in circles, in the waiting, I know itโ€™s time to focus my energy on my mental and spiritual efforts. Through the simple act of swapping my hours, I have found a way to balance my passions, rest, and work. This has taught me that a little change can go a long way toward achieving a fulfilling life. I truly believe whatever is coming next will be worth the wait.
