The Art of Crafting: Reflecting on My 2024 Journey

What an amazing year 2024 has been! As this year ends, I can’t help but reflect on my crafting journey.  It’s been a year of exploration, filled with exciting projects and personal growth that have deepened my love for creativity.

Thank you, LORD, there’s nothing like the comfort of my home—it’s truly a peaceful retreat where I can let my creativity flow. At the beginning of the year, I challenged myself to use my good scrap materials. I set aside a box specifically for this purpose, unsure how much I could create with my limited resources. To my surprise, this restriction sparked newfound creativity!

I crafted artist trading cards, mini art pieces, junk journals, and embellishments. It was incredible to see what I could achieve by thinking outside the box. Woohoo! It was a wonderful feeling of accomplishment, and a pretty sizeable dent in my good scraps meant lots of creativity. I was amazed at the beauty that emerged from what I once considered leftovers. I lovingly dubbed my collection of unfinished projects “The Junkyard,” an homage to the potential hidden in these scraps.

I love my good scrap!!!

Along with all these physical creations, I made progress on several digital art projects. This year wasn’t just about crafting; it was also a journey of self-discovery. I learned the importance of self-expression and how it enriches my life. It's about being brave, wearing creativity like a cape, and spreading love and positivity through my content, art, and handmade crafts. Creativity is a divine gift, and I believe we should embrace it fully. Halfway through the year, this creative momentum continued as I replenished my stash with even more recycled materials. Each completed project brought a sense of accomplishment and joy, reminding me that true creativity thrives on resourcefulness. By the time fall came around, I was ready - creatively and physically to focus on my craft fair events. Connecting with inspiring individuals and soaking up new ideas further energized my creative spirit and was another highlight for the year.

Looking forward to 2025, I have plans to engage more with the crafting community.   More writing, creating mixed media art, improving my junk journaling skills, sharing my work, and making the world a little brighter, one creative project at a time. I am looking for a safe place to share ideas and receive feedback. Additionally, I realized the significance of health and wellness in fueling my creative endeavors. I want to focus more on creativity and prioritize being a creator over a woman of business. Taking breaks and prioritizing rest proved essential in overcoming creative blocks throughout 2024.

As I reflect on this year of exploration and growth, I’m filled with gratitude for my journey and the lessons I learned along the way. Trusting in God has given me the strength and clarity to navigate challenges, allowing me to focus on what truly matters. The only thing that matters is doing God’s work. Here’s to a new year filled with creativity, purpose, and divine guidance!
